Aloft HotelDallas area hotels to suffer hard times. In response to the struggling commercial real estate market, many hotels have seen a decrease in demand and occupancy, which drive down room rates and total income.
PKF Hospitality Research, Smith Travel Research and Moody Economy.com recently released report entitled "Vision Hotel," which detailed the performance of the hotel industry last year. Demand for hotel rooms in Dallas area were down nearly 11 percent during the first six months of 2009, and was down 12.4 percent occupancy. In addition, the room rate for Dallas area hotels down almost eight percent for the same period.
